GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Grand Junction’s annual leaf collection will begin the week of October 26, one week later than initially planned because relatively few leaves have fallen, the city announced October 9.

The free program serves single-family homes within city limits and is expected to continue through mid-December. The city divides service into five zones with specific rake-out dates.

Residents should place leaves approximately 18 inches from the curb by 7 a.m. on their zone’s assigned date. Crews generally collect within three days, weather permitting.

Piles may contain leaves and pine needles, but should not include branches or other debris. Collection will pause November 11, 26 and 27.

Collected material helps improve soil at the Watson Island native plant area. Residents can check their zone and schedule through the city’s Leaf Removal Program page or call 970-256-4111.
